Sunshine Defeat Offa In CGC Volleyball Premier League

The 2024 Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) Volleyball Premier League in Abuja witnessed some thrilling matches on its third day, with surprise upsets and dominant victories across the men's and women's categories, as reported by The Whistler.

One of the standout results of the day was Sunshine Spikers' stunning 3-0 win over defending champions Offa VC (25-17, 25-22, 25-21).

Sunshine Spikers produced a commanding performance, leaving Offa struggling to find momentum. The team's impressive display secured all three sets convincingly, leaving Offa in a difficult position. In another match, Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Spikers defeated NSCDC 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-14), solidifying their position as a strong contender in the league.

NSCDC also secured a 3-1 win over Spartan Spikers (25-18, 25-19, 22-25, 25-23), with Spartan Spikers fighting hard in the fourth set but unable to overcome NSCDC. Former Division 1 and 2 champions, CNS Spikers, beat Nigeria Immigration Service 3-0 (27-25, 25-21, 25-13) in style, showcasing their dominance in the league.

Elsewhere, COAS Spikers showed no mercy in their match against Nigeria Correctional Service, securing a three straight-set win (25-21, 25-16, 25-17) to strengthen their position. On the other hand, Nigeria Police Force put up a fight but ultimately fell to Kada Kings 1-3 (21-25, 14-25, 25-21, 18-25), as the Kings maintained their unbeaten run.

Nigeria Customs also endured a heart-stopping contest, losing narrowly to Kano Pillars in a thrilling 2-3 result (25-14, 17-25, 25-20, 23-25, 12-15). Despite taking an early lead, Customs struggled to close out the match, allowing Kano Pillars to stage a comeback in the latter sets.

In the women's category, LifeCamp VC emerged victorious in an exciting five-set thriller against Benue Queens (25-22, 22-25, 13-25, 25-22, 13-15), with LifeCamp securing the win in the final set. The match featured momentum shifts as both teams exchanged sets, but LifeCamp's resilience in the final moments made all the difference.

COAS Spikers produced a commanding performance, thrashing Nigeria Immigration Service 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-13), while Kada Emeralds also cruised to a 3-0 victory over Olalomi (14-25, 17-25, 12-25). The solid performances from both teams continued to show their dominance in the league.

In another dominant display, Nigeria Customs Service defeated NAF Rockets 3-0 (25-21, 25-10, 25-18), showcasing superior teamwork and individual brilliance. Similarly, CNS Spikers powered through NSCDC with a clinical 3-0 win (25-13, 25-17, 25-14), securing their third victory in the tournament.
