Kwara Govt Urges Private Crèches to Register Amid Compliance Drive for Childcare Standards
The Kwara State Government has called on private school proprietors operating crèches to comply with registration procedures to enhance childcare standards and ensure regulatory oversight.
The directive was issued by Dr. Mariam Nnafatima Imam, the state Commissioner for Social Development, during an inspection of private crèches in Offa and Ijagbo towns within the Kwara South Senatorial District by the Ministry's Monitoring Team.
Dr. Imam urged crèche operators to promptly register their facilities with the Ministry to avoid penalties. She emphasized that proper registration and record-keeping are essential for effective government monitoring and improving the quality of care provided to children. The initiative aims to establish a robust regulatory framework to safeguard the welfare of infants and toddlers in licensed childcare centres.
She reaffirmed the government's commitment to early childhood care, emphasizing that all facilities must meet required standards to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for children.
The Commissioner also urged operators who have yet to complete their registration to do so promptly to prevent disruptions to their services.
Additionally, she encouraged residents to support the government's efforts by choosing registered crèches that comply with state guidelines, ensuring the best care for their children.
