KWASU Forges UK Partnership with Bournemouth University for AI and Research
Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, has unveiled plans to collaborate with Bournemouth University in the United Kingdom on research initiatives, joint funding opportunities, and advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The partnership was discussed during a meeting between KWASU's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh Luqman-Jimoh, and Dr. Festus Adedoyin, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computing and Informatics at Bournemouth University.
Professor Luqman-Jimoh expressed optimism about the collaboration, highlighting its potential to unlock significant academic and technological synergies. He noted KWASU's existing investments in AI and digital innovation, including the establishment of specialised centres such as the Centre for International Education, Centre for Digital Economy, and Centre for Artificial Intelligence.
“This partnership aligns with our strategic vision to foster global academic excellence and drive cutting-edge research in transformative fields like AI,” the Vice-Chancellor stated.
“These initiatives demonstrate the University's commitment to staying current with global trends in technology and education,” Lukman-Jimoh said.
For his part, Dr. Adedoyin, who is a data analytics pathway leader, expressed confidence that the partnership would yield fruitful results for both institutions.
As an AI lecturer at Bournemouth University, UK, he highlighted numerous opportunities arising from the collaboration, including joint research, joint funding, and many other benefits.
Adedoyin arrived in Nigeria on Monday, April 7, 2025, to deliver a lecture at the maiden Postgraduate Colloquium on Artificial Intelligence.
The event was organised by KWASU's Department of Economics and Development Studies.
