Kwara Government Donates 150 Motorcycles to Nigerian Army Amid Security Upgrades
The Kwara State Government has donated 150 off-road motorcycles to the Nigerian Army to bolster security operations and counter threats in rugged terrain such as forests, where non-state actors may be operating.
Additionally, 320 motorcycles were distributed to Local Government Areas (LGAs) to enhance vigilante groups' ability to combat insecurity. The move follows recent reports of destabilising activities by non-state actors in Kwara South and Kwara North.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led administration announced the donation as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen security. On Monday, 21 April 2025, the governor led a high-level security delegation on an operational assessment tour of Kaiama Local Government Area in Kwara North.
Within 24 hours of the tour, the Governor also held a strategic meeting with the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede, in his office at Ahmadu Bello House, Ilorin, who assured him of the Army's readiness to collaborate with other security agencies to restore peace in the affected areas.
Governor AbdulRazaq has consistently supported the security agencies across the state. A few months ago, his administration donated vehicles and motorcycles to the 22 Armoured Brigade of the Nigerian Army.
Meanwhile, in a complementary move, local government authorities across the state have also acquired 320 motorcycles for strategic deployment of vigilante operatives, further consolidating Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's commitment to a peaceful and secure Kwara State.
