KWHMB Partners Tuyil Pharmaceuticals to Boost Drug Quality and Support Indigenous Businesses

The Kwara State Hospitals Management Board (KWHMB) has announced a partnership with Tuyil Pharmacists and other indigenous pharmaceutical companies in the state to enhance the quality of drugs supplied to hospitals.

Abdulraheem Malik, KWHMB's Executive Secretary, revealed the initiative during a visit to Tuyil Pharmaceutical Company Limited's facility on New Idi Road in Ilorin, the state capital.

Malik stated that the collaboration stems from the government's commitment to supporting local businesses, adding: "We aim to prioritise procurement from within the state to strengthen our indigenous pharmaceutical sector."

He said that the Administration of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq is dedicated to fostering partnerships with local firms, adding that the collaboration is expected to significantly boost the state's commercial activities and contribute to economic growth, including the creation of more employment opportunities.

Malik, described Tuyil Pharmaceutical Company as a reputable pharmaceutical firm associated with quality products of drugs, expressing confidence in the company's ability to supply high-quality medications to hospitals.

"We want to understand clearly the source of the drugs we provide for our patients," he added.

The Secretary affirmed that, based on the state-of-the-art facilities observed during the visit, Kwara is well-positioned among the top pharmaceutical companies in the world.

He posited that while the State Government is eager to support indigenous companies, it will only collaborate with those that demonstrate commitment to quality assurance in the drugs supplied to hospitals, as the health of Kwara residents is the administration's top priority.

Responding, Bambe Gbenga, Director and Superintendent Pharmacist with Tuyil Pharmaceutical Limited, expressed gratitude to the Kwara State Government and the management of Kwara Hospitals Management Board (KWHMB) for the initiative.

He described the partnership as historic, noting that the Hospitals Management Board would be the first time it would collaborate with Government Agency, assurimg that the relationship would benefit both parties.

Bambe disclosed that Tuyil Pharmaceutical Company Limited employed approximately 1,000 staff members, all of whom are locally sourced from Kwara State.

Other visiting team from the Hospitals Management Board included; Mustapha Jimoh, Director of Pharmaceutical Services; Lovette Oladele, Project Manager of the Kwara State Essential Drugs Programme (EDP); Mustapha Hasiat, Procurement Officer of EDP; among others.
