KWGIS Processes 354 Land Applications and 247 Certificates of Occupancy in Q1 2025

The Kwara State Geographic Information Service (KWGIS) processed 354 Charting for Confirmation applications and 247 Certificates of Occupancy in the first quarter of 2025, according to ESV Abdulkareem Babatunde Sulyman, Executive Chairman of KWGIS.

Speaking at the first-quarter inter-ministerial press briefing in Ilorin, organised by the Ministry of Communications, Sulyman stated that the Charting for Confirmation process allows applicants to verify land details such as location, size, and survey plan validity before obtaining occupancy rights.

He highlighted that 247 Certificates of Occupancy were fully processed and await final approval from Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. Sulyman credited the state's transition to an automated land management system for the increased efficiency in document processing.

He noted that the success of the Agency is tied to the visionary leadership of the Governor in making sure that developmental activities in the State are in line with the State's Master plan in order to promote growth and rapid development.

The Executive Chairman also disclosed that on the urban renewal programme embarked upon by this administration, the Directorate of Physical Planning and Development Control has done much across the metropolis, through the reclamation of Government setbacks around Government institutions and major roads across the State.

He added that at the Directorate of Survey, Sixteen lands applications were received for land registration certificates but only twelve applicants were issued with certificates on their portions of land, after meeting the necessary procedures for land registration. While 238 survey reports were processed, produced and sent to the Lands Directorate for the processing, production and approval of the grant of Statutory Rights of Occupancy (RofO).

ESV. Sulyman said that the ongoing reform and automation of land administration in the State, embarked upon by His Excellency Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's led administration has helped the Agency to accelerate the process and this will continue to boost the State's internally generated revenue.

Finally, the Executive Chairman disclosed that under the period being reviewed, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq acquired 1,057.14 hectares of land for a proposed large scale agricultural initiative project at Budo-Alfa, along Ipaye-Ajisafe Road in Moro Local Government.

While payment of over 500 million naira has been made for 2000 hectares of lands acquired for an industrial park along the old Ogbomosho road, adding that preliminary assessment of the land acquired along Oke-Oyi axis for the smart city project has also begun.
