Date: 2025-06-08

Kwara State's Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Sa'adatu Modibbo Kawu, has launched a Community Support Initiative in honour of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, showcasing grassroots empowerment and recognition of his progressive leadership.

The initiative's launch, held at a ceremony in Okaka 1 Ward (her constituency) on Thursday, aligns with the governor's people-centred development agenda, which prioritises social welfare and inclusive governance. The programme aims to provide direct support to vulnerable groups, reinforcing the administration's focus on community-based development.

Commissioner Modibbo-Kawu, a champion of women and youth empowerment, described the initiative as: "A tribute to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's visionary and people-oriented leadership, whose transformative agenda continues to uplift lives and restore dignity to governance in Kwara State."

The event, held in Taiwo Isale, Ilorin, underscores the state's commitment to bridging gaps between leadership and citizens through targeted interventions.

She emphasized that the support programme was designed to positively impact vulnerable families, widows, youths, and the elderly, aligning with the governor's legacy of equity, compassion, and sustainable development.

Governor Abdulrazaq, whose tenure has been marked by infrastructural renewal, education reform, economic empowerment and diversification, and youth inclusion, was praised for his commitment to grassroots development and responsive governance.

The programme featured the distribution of food items and cash to the vulnerable in the wards, a gesture that not only speak about Saadatu Kawu's commitment to social change but also reflects the growing synergy between community stakeholders and the Abdulrazaq-led administration.

Community leaders at the event expressed their appreciation saying, "we have never had it this good. This support is timely and much needed. Hajia Sa'adatu Modibbo Kawu is truly a daughter of the soil. Her decision to honour the governor shows we are all united behind good governance."

Some beneficiaries also expressed their gratitude, saying, "we appreciate her for remembering people like us, and we thank the governor for being a source of inspiration.

"This is what leadership should look like, where people in government and citizens work hand in hand. Sa'adatu Kawu is setting the pace, and we thank the governor for leading by example."

Observers say the initiative sends a strong message about Sa'adatu Modibbo Kawu's dedication to grassroots development, people-oriented policies, and purposeful governance.

Her actions not only support the current administration but also position her as a responsive and compassionate leader in her own right.
