Kwara Government Commissions New Classrooms Boreholes Across Ilorin Schools

The Kwara State Government has handed over newly completed classroom blocks and motorised borehole projects to several schools within the Ilorin metropolis, marking a key phase in its ongoing education revitalization initiative.

The Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, led the handover exercise on Tuesday, reaffirming the government's commitment to improving learning environments and promoting quality education across the state.

Several institutions benefited from the initiative:

1. Fate Basin Senior Secondary School received a block of three classrooms with an office, a two room block, toilet compartments, and a motorised borehole.

2. Senior Secondary School, Olunlade, received similar facilities.

3. Government Day Secondary School, Karumo, benefited from a new classroom block, toilets, and a motorised borehole to enhance school hygiene.

4. IMAN Senior Secondary School received a newly built two classroom science laboratory, a two room toilet block, and a motorised borehole to specifically support science education.

5. Army Day Secondary School had its facilities renovated, including a four classroom block with an office and store, a two classroom block with an office and staff room, a two room block with toilets, a motorised borehole with water reticulation, and a generating set.

Dr. Olohungbebe emphasized that the projects are designed to provide students and teachers with an atmosphere conducive to learning and to improve overall school hygiene.

Dr. Olohungbebe urged school managements to maintain the facilities properly, stressing that public investments must be preserved for future generations. He reiterated Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's resolve to sustain investments in educational infrastructure and create conducive learning environments across the state.

In a related development, the commissioner joined the Monitoring and Anti-Loitering Committee to inspect schools and assess compliance with ministry directives on punctuality and discipline.

He commended teachers who arrived early for duty, describing their dedication as exemplary, and encouraged others to emulate their professionalism. He also urged students to uphold good conduct, avoid loitering during school hours, and make responsible use of the facilities provided for their learning.
