Omu Aran Monarch Commends Governor AbdulRazaq Over Life Saver Water Works Project

Date: 2025-10-21

The people of Omu Aran community in the Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State have highly commended the administration of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for the ongoing rehabilitation of the Omu Aran water works, describing the project as a life saver.

Speaking during a recent tour of development projects in the Kwara South senatorial district, the Olomu Efon of Omu Aran, Oba Abdulraheem Oladele Adeoti Agboluaje, expressed profound satisfaction over the water rehabilitation project, confirming that the community is in a "jubilation mood."

Represented by his traditional chiefs, the monarch spoke through the spokesperson of the chiefs, Chief Petu Aran of Omu-Aran, Chief Lawrence Oladele-Ajiboye. Chief Oladele-Ajiboye noted that the Omu Aran urban water supply project was originally inaugurated in 1977 and served the entire community, including neighboring areas.

The monarch acknowledged that the continuous growth and development of the town has led to an ever-increasing expansion of both human population and the business environment. This expansion, he added, consequently called for a higher demand for infrastructural amenities like the one currently being delivered.

He commended Governor Abdulrazaq for the rehabilitation of the once-active water plant and called for more expansion for wider coverage.

"The water supply was extended to such towns as Odo-Owa and Iloffa before. So, it needs further expansion. However, on behalf of Olomu-in-Council, we thank our amiable governor for his efforts and commitment towards the rehabilitation of the water plant," he said.

He also commended the governor for the approval given for construction of the Omu-Aran 5.2 kilometres township road, and completion of Omu Aran-Oko road.

The site supervisor at the ongoing waterworks rehabilitation project in Omu-Aran, Mr. Tunde Adewale, said that the rehabilitation project is 90 percent complete, adding that all the treatment plants are set.

"The rehabilitation commenced in February 2025, and we have been supported with all our demands to perfect the project. We have done a 1,200 kilometers expansion and it will cover 50 percent of the community after completion.

"I can confirm to you that the project is 90 percent done. We only need a 500KV transformer to complete the rehabilitation," he said.
