Former Presidential Chief of Staff, Major General Abdullahi Mohammed, Dies at 86

Major General Abdullahi Mohammed (Retired), a distinguished Nigerian military officer and public servant who served as Chief of Staff to Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and the late Umaru Musa Yar'adua, has passed away.

Born in 1939, Major General Mohammed died in the early hours of today at the age of 86. The news of his passing came as a shock to many Kwarans and Nigerians, who have been expressing their condolences across various social media platforms.

The late Major General Abdullahi Mohammed served Nigeria with distinction in several high-profile capacities:

Chief of Staff to the President: He served Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo (1999-2007) and Umaru Musa Yar'adua (2007-2008).

National Security Adviser (NSA): He served General Abdulsalami Abubakar (1998-1999).

Director-General of the National Security Organization (NSO): He held this key intelligence role during General Obasanjo's military administration (1976-1979).

Governor: He served as Governor of Benue-Plateau State (July 1975-February 1976).

The Janaza (funeral prayer) for the deceased will hold at Ansru-deen Mosque, Maitatama, at 1 pm, after which his remains will be buried at the National Cemetery, Abuja.
