The National President of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, led members of the Union's National Executive Council to attend the fidau (prayers for the repose of the soul) of the late Major-General Abdullahi Mohammed, GCON, on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.

General Mohammed was the former Chief of Staff to ex-Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar'Adua.

The event, which was organised by the Ilorin Emirate Council in conjunction with the Kwara State Government, was held at the Ilorin Central Juma'at Mosque.

Speaking to newsmen on the sidelines of the event, Alhaji Abdulmalik described the late General as one of those who worked extensively for the growth and development of Ilorin Emirate.

He recalled that the late General not only respected IEDPU as an institution but also supported its developmental initiatives over the last five decades. Alhaji Abdulmalik concluded that the death of the amiable General is a huge loss to the Union, the Ilorin Emirate, and the nation at large.

The President urged other indigenes of Ilorin Emirate to emulate the patriotism and generosity of the late General, stating that life would always be measured by the magnitude and quality of impacts individuals make on society while alive.
