Summit University Offa Schedules 5th and 6th Combined Convocation for December

Summit University, Offa (SUNO) has announced its 5th and 6th combined convocation ceremonies for the 2025/2026 academic year. The series of events are scheduled to hold from Wednesday, 3rd December, to Saturday, 6th December 2025, corresponding to 12th to 15th Jumadal Thanni 1447 AH. All activities are slated to take place within and around the university campus in Offa, Kwara State, Nigeria.

The convocation ceremonies will celebrate the hard work of the graduating students, marking their move into the next stage of life. The event also showcases the university's steady focus on sound education, character building, and service to the wider community.

Families, friends, staff, and invited guests are expected to join the events across the four days.

Convocation overview at Summit University, Offa

Most formal activities for the ceremonies will take place at the Alhaja Adiat Abegbe Makanjuola Lecture Theatre on campus. The University Sports Complex, Senate Chamber, Entrepreneurship Centre, and other venues will also host parts of the programme.

The events will be hosted by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abiodun Musa Aibin, on behalf of the Board of Trustees, Governing Council, Senate, Management, Staff, and Students. Guests from different parts of academia and public service are expected at the ceremonies.

The Convocation Lecture will be delivered by Dr (Ts'gye) Rachel T. Leslie from the Catholic University of America. The 5th and 6th combined convocation ceremonies follow a four-day schedule with media briefings, training, sports, prayers, commissioning, and the main convocation. Below is a clear guide to each day. Wednesday, 3rd December 2025: Opening events

Event: Press Briefing
Venue: Senate Chamber
Time: 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

This media session will give an overview of the convocation, highlight key events, and share accurate information with the public.

Event: Counselling and Job Training Venue: Entrepreneurship Centre / Research & Innovation Unit
Time: 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Graduating students and other interested learners can receive guidance on careers, job readiness, and workplace skills.

Event: Exhibition
Venue: Entrepreneurship Centre / Research & Innovation Unit
Time: 2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Projects and creative works from students and units of the university will be on display for visitors and guests to see.

Event: Inter-University Sports Competition
Venue: University Sports Complex
Time: 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Students from Summit University, Offa and other invited universities will take part in friendly sporting activities at the Sports Complex.

Thursday, 4th December 2025: Lecture and special dinner

Event: Convocation Lecture
Venue: Alhaja Adiat Abegbe Makanjuola Lecture Theatre
Time: 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Dr (Ts'gye) Rachel T. Leslie from the Catholic University of America will present the Convocation Lecture. Staff, students, and guests are encouraged to attend, listen, and reflect on the issues raised.

Event: Special Convocation Dinner and Award Night
Venue: Imperial Event Centre, opposite Summit University, Offa
Time: 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

A formal dinner and award night will bring together selected guests, staff, alumni, and students for recognition of service, academic performance, and other contributions.

Friday, 5th December 2025: Commissioning, prayers, and honours

Event: Commissioning Ceremonies for Mosun Belo-Olusoga College Building
Venue: Building Site
Time: 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

This part of the programme focuses on the formal commissioning of the Mosun Belo-Olusoga College Building on campus.

Event: Convocation Special Jumat Service
Venue: Summit University, Offa Central Mosque
Time: 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

A special Jumat service will hold at the Central Mosque for staff, students, and guests who wish to attend.

Event: Conferment of Honorary Doctorate Degrees
Venue: Alhaja Adiat Abegbe Makanjuola Lecture Theatre
Time: 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Selected honourees will receive honorary doctorate degrees during this session in line with the rules and approvals of the university.

Saturday, 6th December 2025: Main convocation ceremony Event: Convocation Ceremony
Venue: Alhaja Adiat Abegbe Makanjuola Lecture Theatre
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

This is the main event for the 5th and 6th combined convocation ceremonies. Degrees will be awarded to graduating students from different colleges and departments.

Guests are advised to be seated 30 minutes before the stated time so that the programme can start and end as scheduled. Graduands are expected to follow all dress codes, gown collection rules, and seating plans as given by their departments and the central convocation committee. Confirm gown collection dates and return deadlines
Arrange their dress, including suitable shoes and clothing to match academic gowns
