Oke-Ode Community Gets New Akogun: Danladi-Salihu Hails Appointment as Well-Deserved Reward
The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, has congratulated High Chief Abdulganiyu Kunle Akogun on his emergence as the eighth Akogun of Oke-Ode in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement issued on Thursday, and a copy made available to Arewa PUNCH in Ilorin through his Chief Press Secretary, Sheu Abdulkadir Yusuf, the Speaker described the new Akogun's appointment as "well-deserved."
He noted that Akogun's appointment reflected his proven leadership qualities and long-standing contributions to the growth and development of the Oke-Ode community.
"The choice of High Chief Akogun was a reward for his patriotic service, dedication, and sacrifices. The community stands to benefit from the wealth of experience he brings to the chieftaincy institution," Danladi-Salihu said.
He also commended the Elesa of Oke-Ode, Oba Muftau Akanbi Adebayo Ibrahim (Ilufemiloye I), for what he called a "perfect and thoughtful decision" in appointing the new High Chief.
The Speaker prayed for a peaceful and prosperous reign for Chief Akogun as the eighth occupant of the Akogun stool, expressing confidence that his leadership will further strengthen unity and development in Oke-Ode land.
Born in Oke-Ode over six decades ago, Alhaji Akogun attended Oke-Ode Grammar School before proceeding to the former Kwara State College of Technology, now Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, for his secondary and advanced-level education.
He later obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Lagos.
The new Chief Akogun, who is the 8th occupant of the historical stool, is widely regarded as a committed community development advocate who has devoted several years to the advancement of Oke-Ode.
A respected journalist and administrator, Alhaji AbdulGaniyu Akogun, currently serves as the Director of Corporate Affairs at the University of Ilorin.
He is also the National Public Relations Officer of the Oke-Ode Community Development Association, Vice Chairman of the Igbomina Ekiti Muslims Forum, and the immediate past National Publicity Secretary of the Igbomina Professionals Association.
