Run for Governor in 2027: Moro Group Drums Support for Ex-APC Chairman Bashir Bolarinwa
Moro Progressive Links (MPL), a socio-cultural and community-based organisation in Moro Local Government Area, has urged the immediate past Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, PhD, to contest the 2027 governorship election in the state.
In a statement issued on behalf of the group and obtained by JUST EVENT ONLINE TV, MPL said its call was predicated on Bolarinwa's proven track record, vast experience, and widespread acceptability across Kwara North, Kwara Central, and Kwara South senatorial districts.
The group described the former APC chairman, popularly known as B.O.B, as a consummate bridge builder who demonstrated exceptional competence, resilience, and strategic leadership during his tenure as state party chairman.
MPL recalled that Bolarinwa played a pivotal role in the 2019 "O to ge" movement, standing "like the Rock of Gibraltar" to lead the APC to a comprehensive victory that produced all elected APC candidates, including the incumbent Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
The organisation highlighted Bolarinwa's rich legislative and executive experience as critical qualifications that eminently position him for the governorship, while citing the APC constitution which grants every qualified member the right to aspire to any elective position.
"Considering his credentials and the constitutional liberty within the APC, we hereby beckon on the man of the people, Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, to run for the coveted governorship seat in 2027," the statement said.
The statement was signed by Mr. Johnson Babatunde, Coordinator (Jebba Ward); Mr. Waheed Busari Aremu, Secretary (Abati Alara Ward); Mr. Samuel Adekola (Babadudu Ward); Mr. Tunde Alabi (Megida Ward); Mallam Ayinla Muhammed (Bode Saadu Ward); and Mrs. Habibat Titilayo Usman (Jebba Ward).
