Panic in Kwara as Bandits Threaten Three Oyun Communities
Tension has gripped parts of Kwara State following a reported threat by suspected bandits to attack three communities in Oyun Local Government Area.
The communities said to be targeted are Ira, Inaja and Aho, according to a letter allegedly issued by a group identifying itself as the "Nigeria Terrorists Association (NTA)."
The letter was reportedly discovered at the Ira market area, triggering panic among residents and prompting heightened security measures across the affected communities.
Sources indicated that the message claimed the group had moved from Kaiama in Kwara North Senatorial District to Oyun Local Government Area in Kwara South and threatened to carry out attacks on the named communities "anytime soon."
A security source disclosed that the Nigerian Army Forward Operation Base (FOB) in Ilemona has intensified patrols in the area alongside other security agencies to forestall any potential attack.
The development comes days after security forces reportedly repelled a bandit attack on Share, the headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government Area in Kwara South Senatorial District.
The attempted assault on Share was said to have lasted about an hour, involving an exchange of gunfire between security personnel and the assailants. No casualties or abductions were reported in that incident.
Security agencies are said to be on high alert as residents await further developments.
