Kwara South Stakeholders to Forward Resolutions to Tinubu for Policy Action

Date: 2026-02-27

Resolutions reached by stakeholders in Kwara South Senatorial District are to be transmitted directly to Bola Ahmed Tinubu as structured feedback to support policy refinement and targeted federal interventions.

The resolutions followed a physical session of the Citizens' Assembly convened in Omu-Aran by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (North Central), Abiodun Essiet, as part of her grassroots engagement tour of Kwara State.

The session brought together representatives of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Muslim leaders, farmers, vigilante groups, youth and women organisations, community-based associations and traditional rulers from Ekiti, Ifelodun, Irepodun, Isin, Offa, Oke Ero and Oyun local government areas.

Participants deliberated extensively on security, economic challenges and social development concerns affecting their communities. They articulated specific priorities and proposed practical, community-driven solutions, which will be compiled into a formal report for presentation to the President to guide federal decision-making.

Dr. Essiet described the Citizens' Assembly as a governance feedback mechanism aimed at ensuring reforms and interventions under the Tinubu administration reflect grassroots realities. She noted that institutionalising structured citizen input would enhance responsiveness and improve programme delivery.

Following the session, the presidential aide met with members of the Igbomina and Ekiti Traditional Council in Ajase-Ipo, Irepodun Local Government Area, where she highlighted ongoing Federal Government initiatives and reaffirmed the administration's commitment to addressing insecurity.

The Chairman of the Council and Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Ismail Muhammed-Alebiosu, commended the President's reform efforts, particularly his advocacy for financial autonomy for local governments, noting that strengthening the third tier of government would enhance service delivery nationwide.

Traditional rulers at the meeting pledged continued collaboration with the Federal Government to promote stability and inclusive growth across Kwara South.
