KW-HMB Executive Secretary Attends 2026 Health Information Professionals Week

The Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Hospitals Management Board (KW-HMB), Dr. Abdulraheem Malik, has reaffirmed the Board's commitment to strengthening health information systems through his participation in the 2026 Health Information Professionals Week (HIP Week 2026).

The event, organized by the Association of Health Records and Information Management Practitioners of Nigeria, Kwara State Chapter, was held from April 22 to 23, 2026, at the UITH Schools Complex Hall, Aminlengbe. Themed "Guardians of Health Information: Driving Healthcare Through Technology," it brought together key stakeholders in health information management, digital health, and healthcare administration.

Dr. Malik, who was specially invited as a distinguished guest, commended the organizers for highlighting the critical role of health information professionals in improving healthcare delivery. He stressed that accurate and well-managed health data remains central to effective healthcare systems, especially in an era of rapid digital transformation.

In his remarks, he highlighted ongoing efforts by the Kwara-HMB to strengthen health information systems across state-owned hospitals, noting that the adoption of digital tools such as electronic medical records and interoperable systems is key to improving efficiency and patient outcomes.

He also commended Health Records professionals across Kwara State for their professionalism and commitment to service, while acknowledging their positive embrace of the newly introduced "Appointment-Reminder-Call" policy by the Board, which is aimed at improving patient attendance and continuity of care.

The event featured scientific discussions that emphasized the need for stronger digital competencies among Health Information Management professionals, particularly in the areas of health informatics, data analytics, and electronic health systems. Participants were encouraged to embrace continuous capacity building to remain relevant in an evolving, technology-driven healthcare environment.

Dr. Malik reiterated the Board's commitment to sustained collaboration with professional bodies to promote innovation, capacity development, and effective health information systems across the state.

The participation of the Kwara-HMB Executive Secretary reflects the Kwara State Government's ongoing commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery through strategic partnerships and digital transformation.
