AbdulRazaq Calls for Technology-Driven Education at Katsina Smart School Commissioning

Date: 2026-05-07

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has called for a deliberate shift toward technology-driven education across Nigeria, saying initiatives like the newly commissioned Katsina State Smart Secondary School represent the kind of investment needed to prepare Nigerian children for global competitiveness.

AbdulRazaq, who was among dignitaries at the unveiling of the smart school in Radda, Katsina State on Tuesday, described the project as a forward-looking intervention that goes beyond putting children in classrooms.

"On Tuesday, I was honoured to unveil the Katsina State Smart Secondary School, Radda, a project that reflects His Excellency Governor Umar Dikko Radda's vision for where he wants Katsina to be in the coming years, and the urgency of getting there through functional education," he said.

The governor, who reflected on his participation at the event in a Facebook post on Wednesday, praised his Katsina counterpart, Governor Umar Dikko Radda, for what he described as a bold and strategic commitment to repositioning education in the state.

"I congratulate Governor Radda and his team on this milestone. As I noted in my remarks at the commissioning ceremony, the smart school project is a laudable investment in the future of the Katsina child, who must compete in the same global space with children already able to design and assemble sophisticated gadgets even before completing Basic 6," he stated.

He further stressed that the initiative goes beyond classroom enrolment, adding, "The project not only ensures that every school-age child is in the classroom, but also provides them with an education that gives them a fair chance in the 21st century."

AbdulRazaq also celebrated the broader vision of the Katsina governor, saying, "I celebrate His Excellency Radda's achievements and his bold vision for the children of Katsina, who are the ultimate beneficiaries of this project."

Drawing parallels with similar initiatives in his own state, he expressed optimism about the broader national impact of such investments.

"With similar projects in Kwara State under our watch, I am confident that initiatives like this will reposition our states and Nigeria as a whole for sustainable development through education that reflects the realities of our time," he declared.

The Katsina Smart Secondary School project is part of Governor Radda's broader agenda to modernise public education in the state and equip pupils with digital and technical skills essential for thriving in a rapidly evolving world.
