Oniyere Youth Forum Provides Free Medical Services to Hundreds During Eid-el-Kabir Outreach

Date: 2026-05-30

Hundreds of residents of Oniyere Community received free medical services as the Oniyere Youth Development Forum (OYDF) organised the third edition of its annual community health outreach programme during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

The outreach featured free blood pressure and blood sugar checks, malaria and hepatitis screening, medical consultations, health counselling, and the distribution of basic medications to beneficiaries.

Addressing the importance of the initiative, the Project Coordinator, Mr Abeeb Oredunni, stated that the programme reflects the Forum's commitment to improving access to healthcare and promoting healthy living within the community.

"This initiative is driven by our desire to give back to our community and improve the well-being of our people. Beyond providing medical services, we are creating awareness about preventive healthcare and encouraging residents to take their health seriously. We are encouraged by the turnout and the support received from stakeholders and volunteers," he said.

A medical volunteer, Dr Emmanuel Ogunrinde, commended the Forum for sustaining the programme, stressing that community-based health interventions play a vital role in promoting public health.

"Many health conditions can be effectively managed when detected early. Outreach programmes such as this provide an opportunity for people to know their health status and seek appropriate medical attention where necessary," he stated.

The exercise also led to the detection of some positive hepatitis cases.

According to the organisers, affected individuals were referred to nearby hospitals for further evaluation and treatment, while the Forum pledged to monitor the cases to ensure they receive the necessary care.

Beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the organisers for the initiative.

Mrs Sikiratu Kasali described the outreach as a timely intervention that brought healthcare closer to the people, while Mr Saadudeen Taiye commended the Forum's commitment to community development and prayed for greater success in future editions.

The health outreach is one of several community-driven initiatives undertaken by the Oniyere Youth Development Forum to improve residents' quality of life and promote sustainable development within the community.
