The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has reaffirmed the institution's dedication to sustaining quality assurance, academic innovation, and professional excellence in pharmaceutical education.

He gave this assurance during the presentation of the exit report of the accreditation exercise conducted by the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria for the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) programme at the university.

Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Prof Olalere Adeyemi, the Vice-Chancellor commended the accreditation team for conducting what he described as a thorough and professional assessment. He assured the team that the University would carefully study the recommendations in the report and continue improving areas requiring attention to maintain its status as one of Nigeria's leading pharmacy training institutions.

Addressing the exercise, the Registrar of the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria, Pharm Ibrahim Babashehu Ahmed, stated that the Council remained committed to ensuring that pharmacy training institutions comply with approved standards and global best practices. He noted that the accreditation exercise assessed facilities, staffing, research output, clinical exposure, and professional ethics, while also encouraging continuous improvement in pharmaceutical education and healthcare delivery.

He stated that the panel observed appreciable growth in the faculty and praised the cordial relationship among staff, students, and the University Administration, which contributed to the success of the exercise.

Prof Pateh, however, advised the University to sustain investment in modern laboratory technology, research support, library resources, and expanded learning facilities to meet increasing student population and evolving professional demands.

The meeting was attended by principal officers of the University, members of the Academic Planning Unit, and officials of the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria accreditation team.
