Saraki Urges PDP Members to Stay United, Says Party Poised for 2027 Victory

Date: 2026-08-07

Former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has called on leaders and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to sustain the unity that has continued to strengthen the party across Kwara State, expressing confidence that the PDP is well positioned to win the 2027 general election.

Saraki made the appeal on Thursday during separate meetings with PDP leaders and stakeholders from Kwara North and Kwara South Senatorial Districts in Ilorin.

The meetings were attended by the PDP governorship candidate, Mr. Suleiman Bolakale Kawu; his running mate, Rev. C.O.S. Fawenu; the party's National Assembly candidates from the two senatorial districts; members of the State Working Committee, party elders and other key stakeholders.

According to a statement signed by his Press Officer on Local Matters, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, Saraki announced that all PDP candidates had been successfully uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal, fulfilling an earlier assurance he gave party members.

"As I assured our members earlier, all our candidates have now been successfully uploaded to the INEC portal. This marks another important step in our preparations for the 2027 elections," he said.

Saraki commended party members for their patience, confidence and steadfastness throughout the nomination process, describing the successful submission of candidates as another milestone in the party's preparations for the polls.

He also welcomed the growing number of defections into the PDP across Kwara North and Kwara South, saying the trend reflects the people's desire for purposeful leadership and good governance.

"What gives me even greater confidence is what is happening across both senatorial districts, where people are joining the PDP in droves because they see our great party as the only credible alternative for good governance," he stated.

The former Senate President urged party leaders and supporters to accommodate one another and place the collective interest of the party above personal ambitions, stressing that unity and discipline remain the PDP's greatest strengths.

"As our numbers grow, so does our responsibility to remain one family. I appeal to our leaders and supporters to accommodate one another and place the collective interest of the party above personal ambition. Our unity and discipline remain our greatest strengths," Saraki said.

He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the party and its candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.

"For my part, I will continue to give our party and our candidates all the support they require. With unity, commitment and hard work, victory is within our reach," he added.

In their separate remarks, stakeholders reaffirmed their confidence in Saraki's leadership and pledged to intensify grassroots mobilisation across Kwara North and Kwara South, expressing optimism that the PDP is well positioned to reclaim power in the state in 2027.
