Kwara APC Candidates Resume Thank-You Tour in Central District, Seek Support Ahead of 2027
Candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State have resumed their state-wide "Thank You" tour in the Kwara Central Senatorial District after concluding visits across the Southern Senatorial District.
The tour, led by the party's governorship candidate and Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi, commenced in Afon, the headquarters of Asa Local Government Area, before moving to Ilorin West Local Government Area.
The APC delegation was received in both local government areas by traditional chiefs, government officials, religious leaders, community representatives and party supporters.
Speaking at his palace, the Balogun Alanamu of Ilorin, Dr Usman Abubakar Atolagbe Jos, who represented the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, described the visit as a demonstration of respect for the traditional institution.
He prayed for the success of the APC candidates at the 2027 elections and urged them to sustain the achievements recorded by the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
The District Head of Balah, Alhaji Kolapo Abdulkadir, also led other district heads in Asa Local Government Area to receive the APC team and expressed support for the party's candidates.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Danladi thanked traditional rulers, religious leaders, community leaders and party stakeholders for their support, expressing confidence that the backing would translate into victory for the APC in 2027.
He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, saying the President had contributed significantly to the country's progress and expressing confidence in his re-election.
"We are here to thank the people of Ilorin West. That is the purpose of coming here today. We are here to reassure you that, by His grace, as you stand for APC, we are going to win," Danladi said.
He also assured supporters that the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq would continue to deliver development across Ilorin West and the state.
The APC candidate for Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency, Hon. Mukhtar Tolani Shagaya, expressed confidence that all the party's candidates would emerge victorious in the 2027 elections, saying the people of Kwara would not want to return to the past.
The Chairman of the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority and an indigene of Asa, Alhaji Abdullateef Gidado Alakawa, commended Danladi for providing legislative support to the AbdulRazaq administration.
He described the governorship candidate as a grassroots politician with electoral value and said the government's achievements were made possible partly through cooperation between the executive and legislative arms.
The Chairman of the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prof. Shehu Raheem Adaramaja, said Asa Local Government had benefited from the state government's interventions in education, roads, healthcare and social investment programmes.
An APC elder in Asa, Alhaji Issa Amasa, commended Danladi's integrity, humility and competence while urging him to remain accessible to the people if elected governor.
Similarly, Engr. Jimoh Ajani Olarenwaju, an aide to Senator Ibrahim Yahya Oloriegbe, urged aggrieved party members to embrace peace and work for the success of the APC.
He stressed the importance of loyalty and commitment to the party, adding that all candidates produced through the party's primaries should be supported.
The delegation was accompanied by members of the Kwara State House of Assembly and other APC chieftains. In Ilorin West, the team was hosted by the Senior Adviser and Counsellor to the Governor, Alhaji Sa'adu Salau, the Chairman of Ilorin West Local Government, Hon.
