2027: ADC's Zakari Mohammed Unveils Technology-Driven Security Plan for Kwara

Date: 2026-08-25

The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kwara State, Rt. Hon. Zakari Mohammed, has unveiled a technology-driven security agenda aimed at tackling insecurity and creating a safer environment for economic growth and development across the state.

Mohammed said sustainable socio-economic development could not be achieved in an environment where insecurity restricts movement, threatens lives and undermines the livelihoods of residents.

He disclosed this on Monday evening during a media interaction with journalists.

The ADC candidate said advances in technology had created new opportunities for governments to strengthen intelligence gathering and security operations, stressing that Kwara must embrace modern tools to respond effectively to emerging security threats.

He pledged that, if elected governor in 2027, his administration would deploy technologies, including drones, for aerial surveillance and intelligence gathering, with the aim of identifying the locations of terrorists and other criminal groups before security operations are launched.

"We will use drones to gather intelligence about criminals and pass this information to security forces for processing and subsequent strikes," Mohammed said.

He, however, stressed that technology alone could not solve the state's security challenges, noting that conventional security agencies must also be adequately equipped with the logistics and operational support required to carry out their duties effectively.

According to him, strengthening the capacity of security agencies would complement intelligence-driven interventions and improve their ability to dismantle criminal networks operating across the state.

Mohammed also identified socio-economic hardship as one of the factors contributing to insecurity, pledging to implement policies aimed at reducing poverty, improving livelihoods and addressing the economic challenges confronting residents.

He said job creation, expanded economic opportunities and improved living conditions would form part of his broader strategy for addressing some of the underlying conditions that could fuel criminality.

On the 2027 governorship election, Mohammed expressed confidence that the ADC would emerge victorious and form the next government in Kwara State.

He argued that the state needed an experienced and capable leader with a clear understanding of its challenges and development needs.

"Kwara State needs an experienced and capable person to lead its development agenda, and I have the political will to lead the crusade if given the opportunity," he said.

Mohammed said his experience across different sectors, combined with his knowledge of the state, had positioned him to provide effective leadership and implement a development agenda capable of transforming Kwara.

He therefore urged residents to support the ADC, promising to combine technology-driven security measures with economic and social policies aimed at improving safety, livelihoods and overall development across the state.
