The Kwara State Government is set to officially commission the Kwara Garment Factory, one of West Africa's largest and most technologically advanced garment manufacturing hubs, on Wednesday.

The Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, is expected to perform the official commissioning ceremony in Ilorin, the state capital.

Speaking earlier today during an appearance on Diamond FM, the Senior Special Assistant to the Kwara State Governor on Communication, Ibraheem Abdullateef, highlighted the strategic importance of the facility, emphasising its role as a key driver of industrialisation in the region.

Designed to operate at a multi-shift capacity, the state-of-the-art facility is projected to generate over 4,000 direct jobs at peak operation.

Ahead of Wednesday's official launch, more than 500 workers have already been onboarded and trained for the initial takeoff phase.

The Garment Factory stands as a flagship initiative under the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

Engineered to diversify the state's economic base and boost internally generated revenue (IGR), the factory places a strong emphasis on socioeconomic development through the targeted empowerment of women and youth across Kwara State.

The landmark commissioning marks a significant milestone in the state's broader agenda to position Kwara as a leading hub for manufacturing, industrial production, and job creation in West Africa.
