Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf Congratulates AbdulRazaq on Turbaning as Sardauna of Ilorin
Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has congratulated his Kwara State counterpart and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors' Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on his turbaning as the Sardauna of Ilorin.
The congratulatory message was contained in a statement issued by Yusuf's spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, on Tuesday.
Yusuf described the traditional honour as a well-deserved recognition of AbdulRazaq's exemplary leadership, commitment to good governance, and contributions to Nigeria's development and unity.
"The conferment of the prestigious traditional title further reflects the confidence and respect the people and traditional institution of Ilorin have in Governor AbdulRazaq's leadership and service to humanity," Yusuf was quoted as saying.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to grant AbdulRazaq continued wisdom, strength and good health to discharge his responsibilities and contribute to the peace, progress and prosperity of Kwara State and Nigeria.
He wished the NGF chairman continued success in his service to the people and congratulated him on the historic occasion.
The PUNCH had reported that the event was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, who commissioned a garment factory in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, with a capacity to employ 4,000 people at full operation.
He also commissioned the 11-storey Kwara Revenue Service House as part of activities marking the turbaning of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as the Sardauna of Ilorin.
In his remarks, he also noted that President Bola Tinubu demonstrated political maturity by forgiving northern governors who opposed his presidential bid in the 2023 election, urging politicians in Kwara to similarly reconcile after their contests.
The Vice President, who spoke against the backdrop of political activities ahead of the 2027 elections, urged politicians to regard political contests as temporary and avoid allowing disagreements arising from them to become permanent divisions.
He said, "I call on all of us to unite in this political season and play politics without bitterness. The truth that sets us free is also the truth that people don't want to hear.
"After the 2023 election, President Tinubu hugged and forgave all other northern governors who did not support him. That is a mark of a good leader."
