The Kwara State Government has declared that it will not condone the destruction of the state forest resources for charcoal production for Commercial purposes in order to prevent total deforestation in the state.
The state commissioner for Environment and Forestry, Barrister Kayode Towoju stated this while launching reflective jackets on behalf of the state government, for effective performance of the Forestry Monitoring Committee in the ministry.
Barrister Towoju called for more commitment and dedication from the forest monitoring committee and charged the committee not to relent in their efforts in apprehending many truck-loads of charcoal to prevent the state forest reserves from total degradation.

Barrister Towoju also called for team work in order to achieve the desired goals for the establishment of the Forestry Monitoring Committee.
Responding, the Chairman Forestry Monitoring Committee, Mr. James Fadipe, thanked the state government for creating an enabling environment which has positive effect on their performance and sought for continuous support and assistance so as to create meaningful livelihoods in Kwara State.
