Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State has cautioned contractors handling various projects to execute them according to specifications, warning that the government would not compromise standard.
Ahmed gave the warning on Wednesday during the continuation of his inspection of projects being executed by his administration, saying that his government would not hesitate to revoke any contract that is poorly handled and award it to another contractor.
According to him, all the ongoing projects being executed, be it road or building project, were structured with specific funds and with specific time of completion, saying that government would not condone any attempt by contractors to abandon projects in the state.
Inspecting the ongoing renovation work of Offa General Hospital, Governor Ahmed expressed satisfaction on the level of work done on the project and urged the contractor to speed up and hand over the project on schedule.
Also at the International Vocational Centre at Ajase-Ipo in Irepodun Local Government Area, Governor Ahmed commended the contractor for doing a good job and urged him to continue in the same spirit.
The governor, who was conducted round the centre by the state commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Alhaji Saka Onimago, also inspected various sections in the center such as underground section, workshop centre, canteen, multi-purpose hall, administrative block and the clinic.
Ahmed who was accompanied by some top government officials in the state also inspected the 17-kilometer Offa-Ira road project constructed at the cost of over N500m.
Governor Ahmed therefore assured that his administration was committed to making life bearable to the people pledging that every community will benefit from the fruits of its administration’s shared prosperity.
He called on people of Offa and Erin-Ile to embrace peace, saying that there could be no development in an atmosphere where hostility thrives.
Speaking on behalf of the Offa community, Chief Ayotunde Raji appealed to the governor to assist the people through the construction of a bye pass from Adesoye College to reduce the pressure on the Olofa way.
