NGO Raises N6M for Schools' Renovation in Kwara
Dr Yusuf Lawal, the Chairman of the NGO, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in IIorin.
Lawal said the fund, which was contributed by members of the group, would be used to rehabilitate some public primary schools in the IIorin emirate.
He said the money would be used to provide infrastructure, teaching aids and other education materials for the selected schools in five local government areas of the emirate.
The effort of the group, according to him, is to complement government effort in developing education sector.
"The NGO believes that no government, no matter how benevolent, can single handedly cater for the education needs of its people," he said.
He also said that pupils would absorb and comprehend what they were taught better "when learning takes place in conducive and friendly environment".
He advised other NGOs to always support the three tiers of government in providing qualitative education. (NAN)
