Hausa Community in Kwara Gets New Leader
Eleven years without a leader, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has performed the official turbanning ceremony on Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim as the new head of Hausa community in Kwara State, “Sarkin Hausawa of Kwara State”.
Speaking at the event held inside the Emir’s palace, at the weekend, the Emir of Ilorin called on the new Sarkin Hausawa of Kwara State to discharge his duty by leading his people with fairness, justice and equity for the betterment of the people.
The Emir called on the new Sarkin Hausawa who double as the (maji dadin Sarkin Gobir of Sokoto State) to be just and fair to his followers.
According to him, it was important that he discharge his duties with all the seriousness it deserves.
He said the position of Sarkin Hausawa had been long over due, hence the reason for the turbaning ceremony at this time.
The traditional ruler commended the effort of the Hausa community for the seriousness attached to the ceremony, adding that their support for the emirate was greatly appreciated.
He also advised the people of Hausa community in the state to continue to give their support to the newly appointed leader for better development and prosperity in the area and the state in general.
He assured the newly turbaned Sarkin Hausawa of the continued support of the Emirate to enable him move the community forward.
Speaking shortly after the turbaning ceremony, the new Sarkin Hausawa, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim said his appointment would be used to move the community to a greater height.
He promised to discharge his duty with all fairness and equity.
The new leader also called on all people of Hausa community to join hands with him in moving the state forward.
Also speakng, a close associate of the new Sarkin Hausawa, Alhaji Shehu Lafiya, said the community had lived without a leader for 11 years.
He said the turbaning of the Sarkin Hausawa would give more coordination to the activities of Hausa people in the state.
He also expressed confidence in the personality of the appointed leader, adhdhing that the new Sarki is God-fearing, adding that he would lead the people right as expected.
