KWSG to Boost IGR through Tourism
The Kwara state government is to refurbish all cultural and tourism sites in the state as part of its efforts to boost Internally-Generated Revenue.
The Special Assistant to Governor Ahmed on Tourism, Mr. Ebenezer Oye Adetula, who made the disclosure during a chat with newsmen in Ilorin, said the intended refurbishment was to harness the rich economic potentials of the state using tourism as a platform.
According to him, "Kwara state is naturally endowed with rich culture and tourism sites that if properly harnessed will improve the state IGR and also place the state among the international tourism centres".
Mr. Adetula, who said he had toured some tourist sites in the state since his assumption of office, said modalities had been put in place to facilitate harnessing some of these tourist sites.
The Special Assistant said tourism, apart from harnessing economic potentials of the state, would also go a long way towards creating employment for the youth.
The governor's aide who enumerated policies and programmes of the present administration spoke of the intention of the Governor Ahmed-led administration to aggressively drive the state economy through tourism.
His words:"Kwara state is abundantly blessed with fantastic tourist attractions and the government will stop at nothing towards capitalizing on this towards bringing fortune into the state".
