FCC Boss Pledges Equitable Distribution of Infrastructure
Chairman of Federal Character Commission (FCC), Prof. Shuaib Oba AbdulRaheem, at the weekend promised equitable distribution of infrastructural facilities to all parts of Nigeria.
AbdulRaheem gave this assurance in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, while speaking with reporters after a thanksgiving prayer organised in his honour over his second term appointment in office as chairman of the Commission.
He said his major task during the second term in office is to ensure that no community is marginalised in the provision of amenities in the country.
He, however, noted that the challenges require a lot of funds, manpower and dedication but expressed optimism that it would come to reality.
The Professor of English and former Vice Chancellor of University of Ilorin condemned insinuations that the Commission has not achieved much success under his leadership, stating that the real symbol of unity in Nigeria is embedded in the Federal Character Commission.
“Anybody in Nigeria condemning the activities of the FCC is not a friend of this great nation in view of the unity of purpose in the Commission”, AbdulRaheem said.
He said the Commission would continue to protect the interest of all Nigerians against misunderstanding and misinformation.
The chairman, who is also the Taliba of IIorin, expressed his gratitude to the Emir of IIorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Zulu-Gambari and the entire indigenes of the IIorin emirate for the prayer.
He expressed a similar appreciation to President Goodluck Jonathan and pledged not to betray the confidence repose in him in the discharge of his responsibility.
The prayer, which was led by the Chief Imam of IIorin, Alhaji Mohammed Bashir, was attended by sons and daughters of the Ilorin emirate from different parts of the country.
