Saraki maintains "A Farm for Africa" Won a Prestigious Grand Prix Award

Date: 2013-05-03

Senator Saraki's office is sufficiently bold to confirm that the film commissioned by him as Governor of Kwara State "A farm for Africa" won a Grand Prix at the Deauville green awards in France.

The film, 'A Farm for Africa' was nominated for an Asteria Award for Agriculture and Green Economics, but instead was so highly commended that it won one of the five prestigious Grand Prix awards.

A message from the organizers noted the following:

"Your film was inscribed in the agriculture category and you could have won the category award, BUT the jury thought best and decided to give you one of the five Grand Prix"

"Those five awards are given to the best environmental audiovisual policy of a public administration (that's your film), to the best environmental audiovisual policy of a corporation, to the best tv documentary, to the best ngo message, and to the best corporate film."

Senator Bukola Saraki only received news that a documentary on the great initiative on ShongaFarm had won an award, not knowing that not only was  "A Farm for Africa" shortlisted for the Asteria Award for Agriculture and Green Economics, but was awarded the much higher honour of the Grand Prix.

Held in France, the state project which toppled nominations from other parts of the globe to win the Grand Prix was received by a state representative who also attended the awards ceremony on behalf of Kwara state.

This milestone has intensified fear and worries in opposition forces as evident in cheap and ephimeral claims made against the award targetted at distracting public interest in the government. However, these claims cannot reverse the success recorded, Kwarans should tenciously ignore such claims and celebrate ‘A Farm for Africa'documentation-which gave the agricultural transformation idea in Kwara international recognition.

Kwara has been recognized through "A Farm for Africa winning  a Grand Prix (which in English translates to the "Grand Prize") award for Best Environmental Audiovisual Policy of a Public Administration, at the Deauville Green Awards in Normandy, France.

It's thoroughly too-low-a-blow and weak for Mr Belgore who has continued to lay selfish wishful claims about the gigantic milestone recorded by the PDP led government of Kwara state in his effort to create attention. Of course, Kwarans are sufficiently confident in PDP led government in the state beyond such cheap claims. It is easier and lasting to stay relevant through good records  of contribution than false claim about a working system, thus, in Mr Belgore's  quest to stay relevant, Mr Belgore can invest efforts used in laying false claim into contributing to development of his local government area at the very least.

As thoughtfully stated by the secretary  of Mohammed Dele Belgore Forum (AbdulAzeez Kasim and women leader of same group Madam Titilayo Ojo) who recently decamped to PDP that he did so because Mr Belgore neglected them in Kwara while he awaits election period before he appears to them and continue with his unending empty promises. They bitterly regretted the fact that they were disillusioned by Mr Belgore's empty promises of assisting his party members even if he didn't win the 2011 election.

"In 2011, Mr. Dele Belgore Promised to provide jobs and opportunities to ACN youths regardless of the outcome of the election and till this day (April 27th, 2013), none of us has gotten one from him atleast" they lamented. Mr Belgore and his camp has totally disconnected himself from the people, a bad sign for Kwara if he is ever elected aside the disorderliness and confusion in his party, ACN.  A progreesive mind doesn't wait to be in power to impact his community, Mr Belgore seems to be more interested in being in office for personal satisfaction than for the development of Kwara.
