Kwara State to Acquire 3 Armoured Tanks for N270m
The Kwara State Government, North Central Nigeria has ordered for three Armoured Personnel Tanks worth N270m.
This is part of the government’s efforts to ensure the safety of life and properties of its citizens.
The State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr Tunji Morounfoye, who disclosed this in an interview in Ilorin, said each armoured personnel tank would cost ninety million naira.
Morounfoye who decried the spate of insecurity in the country stressed the need for community policing to ensure that adequate security is guaranteed and involve the people at ensuring the security.
The Commissioner also bemoaned the recent Armed Robbery Attack in some banks in Omu Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state where three people were reportedly killed.
He pointed out that the security problem had become worrisome and government would take prompt action to guarantee security of the people.
Morounfoye noted that the state had embarked on Joint Task Force Comprising, the Nigeria Police, State Security Service and the Nigeria Civil Defence Corps with the support of the three Special Advisers and Assistants on Security and intelligent to the Governor.
Security Trust Fund
He said "the Kwara state had embarked on security Trust fund where all companies and banks would be providing fund for security which would be added to the fund provided by the state government to purchase necessary security equipment for the security men".
Prince Morounfoye also explained that there is synergy between the state government and other Associations and Bodies in the state especially the Plumber Association and the Association of Resident Doctors and commended the efforts of the Wellbeing foundation Africa of the wife of the Former Governor, Barrister Oluwatoyin Saraki for embarking on maternal and mortality enlightenment campaign programmes in the state.
