The First Wireless Traffic Lights in the Country has been installed in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital by the State Government.
The Wireless Traffic Light at the Gari-Alimi roundabout was aimed at controlling the incessant traffic jam along the area.
Inspecting the Wireless Traffic Lights, the State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Doctor Abubakar Kannike said the wireless traffic light is the first to be installed in the country, and would be replicated in other major roads in the state capital.
Doctor Kannike said the cost of the installation was from the thirty million naira monthly grant to the State Road Maintenance Agency.
He stressed the need for motorists and other road users to obey traffic rules to ensure the free flow of traffic and sanity on the roads.
The Site Engineer, Mr. Rotimi Toyinbo while receiving the inspection team, said the wireless traffic light would assist both motorists and pedestrians to move freely and urged the people to obey the traffic lights.
