'Good Governance will Reduce Insurgency'- Senator Ajibola
The Chairman, Senate Committee on New Partnership for Africa Development (NEPAD), Senator Simeon Ajibola, yesterday in Ilorin blamed insurgency in the African continent on bad governance and economic instability.
Ajibola, representing Kwara South Senatorial District, told newsmen that there was also the need for improved quality education for African youths in order to stem the rising wave of violence.
"Bad governance, low level of education and economic instability are the major challenges confronting Nigeria and other African countries, as well as being the root causes of insurgency,'' he said.
The senator said available information has shown that a group outside Africa, the Al-Queda, which is generally against western influence has penetrated some parts of the continent.
"This is because of low level of education", he said.
On the menace of robbery, Ajibola appealed to the Federal Government to rehabilitate the Eruku-Egbe road linking Kwara and Kogi.
He said this would help to stem incessant robbery incidents on the road.
"The road has become a nightmare for motorists as a result of robbery incidents which occur on the route on daily basis,'' the senator said.
