An Ilorin Area Court on Tuesday dissolved the four-year-old marriage between Rashidat Suleiman and Isiaka, over the husband's "care-free attitude''to the family.

Rashidat, 33, a resident of Maraba Area in Ilorin, had prayed the court to dissolve her marriage to Suleiman over what she described as the "I don't care attitude'' of the husband toward her and the children.

She told the court that Suleiman never had time for the family, "instead, he prefers hanging out with his friends.

"My husband doesn't care about his family's wellbeing so far his friends are doing well,'' she added.

She said that the marriage was contracted in 2009 and had produced two male children, Habbeeb and Toheeb.

"My lord, I want an end to this marriage because my husband has placed his friends above his family which I cannot bear anymore,” the petitioner said.

The husband, who did not object the wife's prayer, said, "she is free to go if she is not interested in the marriage.

"My wife always frowns at my friends and I don't like it. I cannot de-associate myself from them because of her.''

He prayed the court to grant the prayer of his wife without any claim.

The presiding judge, Mr Ibrahim Abdulquadri, dissolved the marriage and issued a certificate of divorce to the petitioner. (NAN)
