Oyeyipo, former Dep Gov dies at 81
A statement issued by the family indicated that Chief Oyeyipo passed on on Friday at the age of 81 years.
Born at Ile Osolo, Esie in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Chief Oyeyipo was educated in Nigeria, United Kingdom and the United States of America.
He was a seasoned administrator and academician who served in various capacities at regional, state and national levels including the positions of Head of Management Services(Northern Nigeria Civil Service), Chief of Protocol to the late Premier of Northern Nigeria Sir Ahmadu Bello, the first Under Secretary(Establishments) in Kwara State, and Permanent Secretary in various ministries. He also served on boards and committees of government parastatals.
Chief Oyeyipo taught courses in local government and public administration and rose to the post of Coordinator of Local Government Staff Training Programmes before becoming Head of Department of Local Government Studies in Institute of Administration, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
He served as the Special Adviser to the Chief of General Staff on Local Government Affairs before his appointment as the civilian Deputy Governor of Kwara State in August 1990. After a successful tenure, he was appointed as the Chairman, People's Bank of Nigeria.
Chief Oyeyipo was a devout member of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) where he was Diocesan Registrar, Diocese of Kwara and later Diocese of Igbomina.
