Kwara Police Boss Assures Residents of safety

Ilorin, July, 3, 2013 (NAN) The Commissioner of Police in Kwara, Mr Agboola Oshodi-Glover, on Wednesday said that the command had redoubled its efforts to rid the state of criminal activities.

The police boss told newsmen in Ilorin that crime rate had dropped drastically in the state.

He said there was the need to be on red alert, to prevent criminals from infiltrating into the state.

"The Kwara command is on a 24-hour intensive patrol, meant to dislodge armed robbers and prevent all manners of criminal activities in the state.

"We assure residents of safety of their lives and property, while we urge them to give us information on any suspicious person in their domain, " he said.

The police commissioner said that more personnel from the Police Mobile Force had been drafted to Omu-Aran in Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.

He said that the command decided to beef up security in the area following the bank robbery witnessed recently.

Oshodi-Glover said that the command would reinforce its intelligence gathering unit to foil criminal activities before being carried out.

He advised the public to make use of the police distress call numbers.

He said that pamphlets containing various telephone numbers to the police control room would be provided to the public.

He thanked the students of tertiary institutions in the state for cooperating with the command and assured them of harmonious working relationship. (NAN)
