Dethronement: Oloffa goes to Supreme Court
In the notice filed on Wednesday by his counsel, Lawal Rabana, and made available to Daily Sun in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, the Oba and his Anilelerin Ruling House are asking that the kingmakers of Offa, the Attorney General of Kwara State and the governor be restrained from executing the Appeal Court judgment ordering the installation of Prince Adegboyeha Keji.
Among the reliefs being sought from the court is an order setting aside the judgment of the Court of Appeal, Ilorin Division delivered on July 9, which nullified the selection, appointment and installation of Oloffa of Offa.
Oba Esuwoye had argued in his grounds of appeal that the appellate court erred in its judgment "when it held that the ascendancy to stool of Oloffa of offa is rotational between the Anilelerin and Olugbense ruling houses by expunging exhibits 'G','O','P','Q','R' and 'S' before it.
Similarly, he claimed that the court erred by expunging exhibits 'J' and 'DFC2', which were the government's positions to the nomination, selection and appointment of an oloffa, that the respondents did not oppose, thereby occasioning a miscarriage of justice in the matter.
Meanwhile, Esuwoye on Wednesday sued for peace and urged all residents of Offa to go about their normal businesses.
Oba Esuwoye made the call to douse the tension occasioned by the Court of Appeal ruling, which nullified his ascension to the throne.
