300 rural communities to get electricity in Kwara
Arrangement has been concluded by the Kwara State government to start electrification of about 300 communities from June.
It was gathered that the project would be carried out under the phase 3 of rural electrification project and that the communities to benefit from the project were among the 917 communities that were yet to be provided with electricity in the state.
Speaking on the development, the governor's aide on rural electrification, Alhaji Issa Abdul-Lateef, said Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed had given approval to the project.
He said the governor was committed to making life more meaningful for the people of the state, assuring that all the communities which had not been electrified would be electrified before the expiration of the present administration.
"We have compiled list of 917 communities that have not benefitted from the state's rural electrification programme, and the governor has given approval for the electrification of about 300 communities.
This will be carried out under the phase 3 rural electrification project, and I can tell you that in the next one month, our engineers would start visiting those communities to ascertain the modalities for the project. By June this year, we will start the electrification project", the governor's aide said.
Appraising Governor Ahmed's administration in the last nine months, the aide remarked that the governor had redeemed all his electioneering campaign promises and was poised to do more for the betterment of his people.
He, however, called on the people to support the programmes and policies of the governor with a view to taking the state to a greater height.
