Date: 2012-03-23

The NPL has kept mum over the alleged walk-over by hosts, ABS against Sunshine Stars in midweek rescheduled Matchday 3 in llorin. ABS claimed three points and three goals in line with NPL rules guiding the practice of walk-over.

NPL acting executive secretary, Tunji Babalola told SuperSport.com that the league body is waiting for match reports before coming out with an official position.

"We don't want to react yet until we receive the referee and match commissioner's reports."

Babalola would not provide clear information on whether Sunshine Stars got leave to stay away from the match.

"We rescheduled Week 3 matches for Wednesday and Thursday for all the teams, that is what I can tell you for now," he said.

SuperSport.com learnt that the appointed match officials were on hand for the game and actually performed the official walk-over.

The centre referee is Maurice Nwabueze from Abia state, while his assistants are Lawal Mogaji (Kaduna), JohnMary Alozie (Anambra), JP Adeniran (Kwara) and match commissioner is retired Fifa referee, Aliu Ibrahim Saula from Katsina.

Sunshine Stars were learnt to be in Lagos to round off preparations for their weekend Caf Champions League clash against Recreativo de Libolo in Angola.

However, coach of ABS, Kabir Sulaiman Dogo admitted to SuperSport.com that the match has been won and lost leaving them with a game to complete their seven-week unbeaten mark.

"We pocketed three points from the game against Sunshine Stars.

"It's not our headache that they didn't show up, nobody told us of any postponement.

"The match officials were on ground for the game, they performed the official walk-over.

"We're looking forward to the next match against Lobi Stars to complete our target for seven-week unbeaten run.

"We've done six weeks just one is left, and a victory against Lobi at the weekend will add it up," he said.
