Date: 2013-08-27

Nigeria's Practice in the education sector must be constantly reviewed, revised, re-engineered and reinvigorated to meet the challenges of knowledge-driven economy of the twenty first century.

The Chairman Governing Council, Kwara State Polytechnic, Professor Sheu Jimoh who made this exertion while speaking with newsmen in Ilorin said the world today is not interested in quality of certificate but the skills and competences.

The Professor urged practitioners in education sector to come up with arrangement and programmes that capable of improving educational standard.

He however, advised higher institutions to follow the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) guidelines on carrying capacity in order not to have a backlog of graduates waiting to be mobilized for National Service. He noted that students population in polytechnic have far exceeded the NBTE- approved carrying capacity polytechnic must focus more on developing skills and competences.
