King Anglican Church, Ilorin holds 14th Synod
The Anglican Bishop of Kwara Diocese, Right Rev. Olusegun Adeyemi, has advised Nigerians to increase the tempo of their prayers to sustain the country's unity and socio-economic development.
Adeyemi gave the advice on Friday in Ilorin, during the second session of the 14th Synod of the Christ The King Anglican Church, Ilorin.
The clergy, who was speaking on the theme ``Back to Bethel,’’ urged public office holders and Nigerians at large to have and imbibe the fear of God in their daily activities.
According to him, this remains the only way to surmount all the sundry challenges affecting the progress of the country.
Adeyemi, while commending President Goodluck Jonathan for being an emblem of peace by conceding defeat, urged the President-elect to strive to fulfil all his electioneering campaign promises to enhance the welfare of Nigerians.
Earlier, Gov.Ahmed Abdufatai of Kwara, appreciated the body of Christ for their prayers before, during and after the elections.
The governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Planning and Economic Development, Mr Bode Ogunleye, said the government would continue to live up to the expectations of the people.
Similarly, the Chancellor of the Anglican Diocese, Justice Timothy Oyeyipo, commended the Anglican Bishop of the Kwara Diocese for a well-articulated ``Synod Charge’’.
He urged Nigerians to return to the core values of integrity and honesty to make the country great again.
Oyeyipo advised the congregation to imbibe the lessons of the Synod Charge, to improve their commitment to the body of Christ and to build brotherly love and respect.
The Bishops from within and outside the state, top government officials and representatives of media organisations attended the Synod. (NAN)
