Democracy Day Press Statement from Razaq Atunwa

Date: 2015-05-29

Happy Democracy Day Nigerians! Our primal season of the long awaited change has finally come. Today is testimonial to Nigeria's commitment to democratic dispensation, today represents a significant turnaround because Nigerians decided that the country must witness change and with this passion and ingenuity have made this year a different year in the history of Nigeria's democracy.

Nigerians chose to disregard propaganda, doubts, poor government to embrace greatest hopes and aspirations that our nation can be great again. Today, the change has come, today marks the end of an era that has mismanaged Nigeria and the beginning of an historic beginning of social growth.

At this defining moment for Nigeria, we should be proud that Nigeria has elected one of the most talented, qualified and visionary individuals ever as president. We must note that our change has just begun and we must be set to help the government in its pursuits. Change for us should be the will for us to restore Nigeria's social virtues. Change for us is building an economy that rewards not just wealth, but the work and workers who created it. Change for us is emancipating Nigeria from the scourge of corruption, unemployment and insecurity.

This journey might be difficult and long as a lot of damages have been done to Nigeria by the immediate past administration. I urge Nigerians to support President Muhammadu Buhari, all governors and other political office holders, as they face these challenges with profound strength and limitless faith in the capacity of the Nigeria people. If we are willing to work for it, and believe solely in it, we can attain it. We must reject ethnic or religious bigotry, and embrace the spirit of love, responsibility and patriotism to fellow Nigerians.

I congratulate our new president, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, and Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, state governors with particular reference to the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed whose excellent works in the last four years gave him a landslide victory. I urge you to afford to use this privilege given by the people to further in your development strides in Kwara.

Congratulations Nigerians! Happy Democracy!

Signed

Rt. Hon. Razak Atunwa
Member-Elect of House of Representatives
Asa/Ilorin West Federal Constituency.
