Irewolede community cries out robbery attacks

Residents of Irewolede area, power line, off muslim Commentary Road, Ilorin, have sent Save Our Soul (SOS) message to the security agencies in Kwara State over incessant robbery attacks.

One oft the victims of the attacks, Miss Salomey Ngwuelo said the way and manner which the people of the area were being attacked by men of under-world was very worrisome.

Narrating her ordeals, Ngwuelo said the first time they came to rob my house around December last year was when 1 traveled for my mother's burial. My sister just called me that armed robbers have come to pack all my belongings, including laptop, camera, jewelries and other valuables."

"The most saddening aspect of it is that when they came for the second time, they carried away all the golden jewelries that 1 inherited from my mother," she said

Ngwuelo who spoke in tears with our reporter, appealed to security agencies in the state to come to their aid.

Another victim, who did not want his name in print, said he had lost valuables worth thousands of naira to armed robbers.

He said, it calls for concern of the government and security agencies for somebody just to come over-night and pack all what one has laboured for over the years.

He said the first case of robbery in the area was reported to the Police "B" Division, Surulere while the second one was also reported to a police station at Irewolede area, adding that the police has promised to investigate the matter.

He appealed to the police to expedite action in bringing the perpetrators to book to safe as deterrentto others.

The victim also appealed to government to engage youths in meaningful ventures, saying that "an idle hand is the devil's workshop".

Another victim, Mrs. Christiana Olaniyan said, "it is very worrisome that armed robbers have turned our area to their meeting point becausel have experienced Ihe ugly incident not less than three times."

She further appealed to government and security agencies to cometotheir rescue.

Reacting to the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Dabo Ezekiel said the case has not been reported to the police.

He however assured that the police would do everything to ensure that the people of the state are not subjected to any form of threat.
