I WILL LEAVE KWARA BETTER THAN I MET IT - POLICE BOSS

Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Chinwike Asadu has assured that the state command will continue to combat crimes and criminality among citizens of the state and its environs in order to ensure that the state remains harmonious.

Asadu also noted that issues of security of lives and property in the state goes beyond the scope of men of the force alone, noting that support is highly needed from the media in the areas of information dissemination and sensitisation of the public.

The police boss made this known in Ilorin, yesterday, while paying a courtesy visit to journalists in the state at the correspondents' chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists.

According to him, "Kwara State is a state of harmony and my vision is to leave it better than I met it. It is on this note that I decided to pay you gentlemen of the press a courtesy visit, so as to ensure a robust and harmonious working relationship, so that we can work together in fighting crime in the society.

Asadu who is also the 27th Commissioner of Police in the State, urged media professionals and good people of the state to assist the police with useful information that could help transform the society to become a better place to live, and further ensure peaceful business transactions.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the correspondents' chapel of NUJ in the state, Rev. Felix Ajide commended the new commissioner of police for his remarkable achievements which has earned him the appointment.

He therefore assured the police boss the total supports of pressmen in the state towards the achievement of security of lives and property of citizens in the state.

Ajide however urged officers and men of the force to always make available updates of the command's activities to pressmen, for the well-being and knowledge of the general public.

Until his appointment, Police Commissioner Asadu was in charge of the Anti-Fraud Unit, Lagos, and succeeded Peter Yisa Gana, now Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIGP.
