A former House of Representatives member in Kwara State, Hon. Zulukarnaini Edun has described his expulsion from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in his Oke Ogun ward of Ilorin South Local Government as an act of “desperation by some elements who are bent on holding on to power by all means”.

The party had disowned Edun as a member of the party according to the ward’s chairman, Alhaji Folorunsho Kazeem, claimed the party had expelled Edun from the party since 2011.
Kazeem said the renouncement became imperative because Edun was claiming to be a member of factional PDP in the state, which according to him was non-existent.

However, Edun who represented Ilorin East and South Federal constituency between 2003 and 2007 in a riposte through his media aide, Prince  Agboola Abdulkadir said, “As a matter of fact, Hon. Edun remains a bonafide PDP member and in the mainstream of the party as led by Alhaji Bamanga Tukur.

“Our advice to them is for them to leave the party honorably or align with Mr President to move the country forward. Therefore, his purported suspension as announced by the rebel group is null, void and of no effect”.

Kwara is one of the states belonging to the new PDP led by Alhaji Kawu Baraje while the state chapter of the party led by Hon. Ishola Balogun Fulani has denied the existence of any faction in the state PDP, stressing he remains the authentic chairman while former Governor Bukola Saraki is the party leader in the state.
