Kwara House of Assembly okays gov's N1.25bn loan request
The Kwara State House of Assembly has approved the request made by Governor AbdulFatah Ahmed to access N1.25 billion loan facility from a commercial bank.
The approval followed the adoption of the report of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation presented by its Chairman, Alhaji Suleiman Sunaboro, on Friday.
The Speaker, Mr. Rasaq Atunwa, who announced the approval, after the House’s deliberation which lasted for over an hour, said the request was in order.
He said the request for the loan satisfied the provision of sections 35 sub section one A and B and 36 two A and B of the Fiscal Responsibility law.
Atunwa also said that the access of the loan was in conformity with the due process.
The governor had, in a message he signed a forthnight ago, said the loan would be used to finance development projects and counterpart funding.
