As part of measures to improve its security, the Kwara State Government will soon launch a new security module code-named "Operation Harmony".

The measure, according to the state governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, is to contain the rising security threats in the state.

Ahmed was responding to an  alarm raised by the Chief Executive Officer, Yolas Construction Company Ltd, Engr. Yusuf 'Lanre Sagaya, at an annual dinner of Third Estate Midweek, an Ilorin elite forum, on the urgent need for government to rid the state of area boys, whom he said, are now constituting nuisance.

He said his administration was working behind the scene to check the menacing situation.

Commenting on the Local Government election slated for October 26 in the state, the governor promised free and fair poll and enjoined voters to troop out for the election.

He acknowledged the Third Estate for its truthfulness and its effort in developing the state, calling on other organisations, associations and stakeholders to partner government towards remodelling and ensuring that the state attains greater height.

In his speech, the Chairman of the Third Estate, Dr Yusuf Lawal, assured that the group would continue to intervene only to complement government's efforts and called on governments at all levels to continue to live up to their duties and responsibilities to the people.

Lawal, who expressed displeasure with high rate of miscreants and thugs in the state, urged government and well meaning indigenes of Ilorin emirate to meet to proffer solution to the problem before it festers.

The Third Estate Chairman said poverty is pervading the society, and appealed to the leaders to do the right things as enjoined by God and  enshrined in the constitution.

Lawal also called on the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union, all stakeholders in the emirate, the Government and people of the State to consciously, adequately and comprehensively aggregate all the concerns and interests of the people before articulating a fair representation that would make input on behalf of the state at the proposed National Conference.
