Kwara monitors students writing WASSCE
The Kwara State Government has deployed senior officers from its Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development to monitor the ongoing West African Examination Council examinations in the state.
In a statement made available to The Herald, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Alhaji Lamidi Alabi, explained that "all directors and assistant directors in the ministry and Teaching Service Commission have been deployed to various public and private schools in the state to monitor the conduct of the WAEC examination."
He added that principals and vice principals have been posted to other schools to ensure proper monitoring of the examination as they are warned not to support any act that would encourage examination malpractices.
Alibi described school administrators and teachers as important stakeholders in the education sector, urging them to fight the monster in the school.
The Permanent Secretary informed that the state government had earlier been commended by the WAEC body through a letter over eradication of the menace of examination malpractices in the state.
He said the letter read "of particular and worthy of note were the reports of officers who were deployed to Kwara State in which they mentioned the laudable role played by the state government in making the examination, not only smooth but reducing the examination malpractices in the state and the zero tolerance approach to issue of examination malpractices."
